Where and What it is

Mercury is the first planet from the sun. It is one of the rocky planets and it is the fastest planet in the solar system, it is so fast that a year is 88 Earth days. Romans named a god of messengers and thievery Mercury because the planet Mercury moves so fast.

Mercury days and nights are approximately 58 days, 15 hours, and 30 minutes, Earth time. During the day the temperature is over 750°F and at night it can be -300°F.

I weigh 85.2 pounds on earth so if I were on Mercury I would be 32.376 pounds on Mercury. It usually has ice in the middle of a crater because almost no sunlight hits it. Mercury’s diameter is 3,031 miles (4,878 kilometers). The distance from the sun is 36 million miles (58 million kilometers).
